At OxML 2024 I took part in the MLx Health & Bio and Representation Learning tracks, an intensive stretch of lectures, tutorials, and discussion with researchers from across the field. The themes I focused on:

  • Representation learning, self-supervision and structured representations for complex data.
  • Reinforcement learning, decision-making under uncertainty.
  • Causal inference, moving from correlation to mechanism (a thread that runs through my own research).
  • Foundation models, scaling, transfer, and adaptation.
  • Machine learning for healthcare, reliability, evaluation, and clinical relevance.
Coming soon

My detailed notes and takeaways from the OxML sessions will appear here soon. In the meantime, the tracks and themes I focused on are listed above.
